Fire Danger Level Extreme Starting 12:01 am Saturday August 12th
Beginning 12:01 a.m. on August 12, 2023, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) will elevate the fire danger level for Benton County to Extreme. The Benton County Fire Defense Board has taken proactive measures to address this heightened risk by implementing a series of fire use restrictions.
In alignment with the ODF's assessment, the Benton County Fire Defense Board has announced restrictions on all open fires including the prohibition of recreational and cooking fires originating from open firepits that utilize wood or charcoal. This does not include gas-fired barbeques.

The Oregon Department of Forestry and Benton County Fire Defense Board urges the community to stay informed, comply with implemented restrictions, and remain vigilant to mitigate the risk of fire incidents. More information on fire danger levels and industrial restrictions can be found on ODF's web site at Oregon Department of Forestry’s restrictions and closures or by calling our offices at 541-360-0030.
Community members can sign up for emergency alerts through the Linn-Benton ALERT Notification System at https://www.co.benton.or.us/preparedness/page/emergency-alert.
Several days next week will be declared as All-County response days, which means that at least one piece of apparatus from every Fire agency in Benton County is sent to an incident. This is to get a quick knock-down of the fire before it becomes harder to control. Temperatures, time of day, wind, and humidity are all factors in making the decision to enact an all-response day.
